Contact and entity records in Eclipse and those in Microsoft Outlook have slightly different fields. The sections below describe the mapping between fields in the Eclipse records and the Outlook contact record. The sections also describe what changes made in Outlook are not synced back to Eclipse.
To view the full name information in Microsoft Outlook, click Full Name in the contact record to display the Check Full name dialog box.

Microsoft Outlook provides multiple address options: one for home, business, and other. The address from Eclipse maps to the business address in Outlook. When you synchronize data, the business address in Outlook is the contact's main address in Eclipse.

When you synchronize data, if the address has changed in the Outlook record and the Eclipse contact record has the Use Entity Address field flagged, the system ignores the changes in the Outlook record.
Phone numbers in an Eclipse contact are assigned codes and descriptions to help identify the numbers, such as BUS for a contact's primary business number. Valid codes are defined in the Valid Phone Codes control maintenance record.
When mapping phone numbers to the contact record in Microsoft Outlook, and vice versa, the system looks for common strings in the Codes field in the Eclipse contact record to identify the phone number's type, such as BUS, FAX, or MAIN. If the system cannot determine the phone number type from the code, it then looks at the free-form Description field for the number for common strings, such as Business, Fax, or Main Office.
The first match of each of the phone number type is mapped as described in the following table. If an Eclipse contact has multiple phone numbers with the same code, such as multiple BUS numbers, the system maps the first one listed in the Eclipse contact record.

To display the Other field, in the Outlook Contact record, select the down arrow next to any phone number and select Other.

E-mail, E-Mail2, and E-mail 3. Microsoft Outlook provides room for up to three e-mail addresses for a contact. The system maps the addresses to E-mail, E-mail 2, and E-mail 3 in the order they are listed in the Eclipse contact record. Note: At this time, e-mail types and descriptions are not mapped to the Microsoft Outlook contact record. |
