The system only syncs contacts, customers, and vendors with Eclipse that are available in the Eclipse Contacts and Eclipse Customers and Vendors folders within Microsoft Outlook. Outlook creates these folders when you sync, and separates your Eclipse contacts from other contacts you might have defined within Outlook. You can make changes to the records in the Eclipse folders, and if you have Full Access to a record in Eclipse, your changes are synced back to the Eclipse record in Eclipse. However, the system does not sync the following changes back to Eclipse:
Company - The system ignores the changes and does not sync them back to Eclipse. If you updated the company name in Outlook, the sync overwrites your changes with those in the Eclipse record.
Address lines - For Eclipse contact records, the system ignores the changes and does not update the Eclipse record if the Use Entity Address field is selected in the contact record in Eclipse. If you updated the address information in Outlook, the sync overwrites your changes with those in the Eclipse record.
Case updates - If you change only the case of the letters in a contact record within Outlook, for example, uppercase to lowercase, the system ignores these changes. For example, if you change "joe's plumbing supply" to "Joe's Plumbing Supply," and this is your only change in the record your changes are not included in the sync back to Eclipse.
However, if you make the case changes, and there are additional data changes within the record, your case changes are also synced to Eclipse. For example, you change "joe's plumbing supply" to "Joe's Plumbing and Spa Supplies," the system syncs both the wording change and the case change to Eclipse and updates the Eclipse records accordingly.
Phone numbers - If you change the only the format of a phone number, but not the numbers within the phone number, the system does not sync the changes. For example, if you change 3035555555 to (303)-555-5555 in the Outlook record to make it easier to read the change are not included in the sync back to Eclipse.
However, if you make the formatting changes, and there are additional changes within the record, either to the phone number or another field, the system syncs both your content changes and your formatting changes to Eclipse and updates the Eclipse records accordingly.
