Updating PDW Data in Batches to the Eclipse Product File

After you map your metadata items from the Product Data Warehouse (PDW) Catalog to the Eclipse Product file, use the Eclipse Product File Batch Update screen to export the data for multiple product items and update your files. This program takes the data from the most recent update of the PDW Catalog and updates the primary Product file.

On the Eclipse Product File Batch Update screen, indicate a price line and the type of update (pricing or non-pricing information).

Consider these control maintenance records before running the export.

Run a preview before actually updating to ensure that the export is correctly set up.

To update a single product file, see Updating PDW Data from Eclipse Product Maintenance in this documentation.

To export PDW data to the Eclipse Product file:

  1. From the Tools > Product Data Warehouse (PDW) menu, select Eclipse Product File Batch Update to display the Eclipse Product File Batch Update screen.

  1. Complete the fields for the batch update:

  • Use the Multi hot key to select multiple price lines for which to run the update.

  • If you leave this field blank, the system prompts whether you want to update all price lines. Enter Y to update all price lines or N to update only the items indicated in the item list.

PDW Update Date

enter the calendar date for which to run the update.

press F10 and select either:

  • Price - Updates all pricing records in the Eclipse Product file.

Print Error Report

Enter Y or N to indicate whether  you want the system to print an Error Report, which lists all items that did not change with the update and the reasons why.

Note: We recommend that you enter Y in the Print Update Report and Print Error Report fields in order to check the update for any errors.

  1. Use the Preview hot key From the File menu, select Preview to generate both reports and view the dictionary items that will update for each product, along with the new values, without actually running the update.

If you are running a Price update, then the PDW Price Update Scan screen displays when you use the Preview hot key. Use this screen to verify that the correct price sheets and discount classes are being used for price lines that you are updating. Use the Price Sheet Scan hot key File > Price Sheet Scan option to do this manually.

  1. Use the Items hot key From the File menu, select Show Items to display a list of the products to be updated.

  2. Edit the list, if needed, by deleting any items you do not want to update.

  3. From the File menu, select Use the Update hot key to run the update and exit the screen.
