The Kill a Process function stops selected active NT or Unix processes from running.
You can choose to do one of the following actions:
Kill one report or process at a time.
Kill multiple processes at the same time.
Kill or reschedule a report.
Note: We recommend that only the system administrator use this function.
To kill one report or process at a time:
From the System menu, select Phantom Status to display the Phantom Status window.
Place the cursor on the report or process to kill.
From the File menu, select Kill.
At the prompt, click OK to kill the process or Cancel to return to the Phantom Status window.
Note: To search for a process by user ID, see the following instructions.
To kill multiple processes at the same time, or search for a process:
From the System menu, select Phantom Status to display the Phantom Status window.
From the File menu, select Kill Process to display the Kill Process selection window.
In the Search field, enter characters to identify the User ID field for the phantom processes you want to view.
Click the Update button to display all the processes that match your search criteria. Select multiple processes by holding Shift while you right-click your cursor on each process you want to kill.
To kill the highlighted processes, click the Kill button. To cancel, click the Close button.
Note: The system records killed processes in the System Activity Log.
From the System menu, select Phantom Status to display the Phantom Status window.
Position the cursor on the report to kill or reschedule and select File > Kill to display a prompt.
At the prompt, click OK to proceed with killing the process.
The killed processes will disappear from the Kill Process window.
Exit the window.
