Viewing Process Status

Use the Phantom Status window to view all currently running phantom processes. The Phantom Status window updates with each new process that runs so that you are always viewing real-time phantom action.

From this window, you can also perform the following actions:

To view currently running processes:

  1. From the System menu, select Phantom Status to display the Phantom Status window.

The following fields display information for the terminal and each phantom process running:

Column

Description

Started

The time the report or program began running, displayed in the time zone defined for the owner in User Maintenance.

PID

The program ID or user ID.

Owner

The login name of the person running the process.

Program Name

The name of the process that is running.

Status

The process status.

For example, a program status might be Sleeping until (an indicated time).

  1. Use the following menu options, as necessary:

File > Edit Schedule

If the cursor is placed on an Automatic Ship Ticket Printing, Report Writer, or G/L Report Generator process, the system displays the program driver window, where you can edit the process parameters.

For other processes, the system displays the Phantom Job Scheduler Maintenance window, where you can edit the phantom process schedule.

File > Change Time Zone

Prompts you to change the time zone for which the process times are displayed.

File > Kill

Prompts you to cancel or reschedule the phantom report on which the cursor is positioned. Select one of the following options:

  • Kill -  Cancels the report and sends a message to the user who originated the report.

  • Reschedule - Displays the Phantom Scheduler window, where you can reschedule the report. The system then cancels the report and sends a message to the user who originated the report indicating when the report is rescheduled to run.

Note: With any other type of process, the Kill hot key displays the “Kill ‘program’ (Y/N) :” prompt.

File > Kill Process

Select any process in the system, instead of only the displayed phantom processes, to kill.

Note: Do not kill the SYSTEM.ADMIN process.

Show > Process Status

Displays the Process Status Dialog Box, which shows the status of the process on which the cursor is positioned.

Show > Process Detail

Displays the Phantom Status Detail window, where you can view the following detail information for the selected process:

  • Process ID - System ID number for the process.

  • Account - Eclipse account running the process.

  • User Number - System-generated number associated with the user running the process.

  • Start Time - Time when the process starts.

  • Start Date - Date when the process starts.

  • Phantom Name - Program name of the process.

  • Phantom ID - Eclipse table ID associated with the phantom program.

  • Process State - Current state of the process, such as Started.

  • Type - Process type, such as Phantom.

  • System User - User who initiated the process.

  • Status - What the process is doing now.

Selection > Select Criteria

Limit the phantom processes displayed by entering selection criteria.

A dialog box prompts you to Enter Select Pattern. Enter characters from the Start Time, User ID, Program, or Status fields for the phantom processes you want to view.

Selection > Clear Selection

Clears the select criteria that you set and displays whatever selections you had previously.

Opts Hot Key

As of Release 9.0.4, this option is only available in Eterm.
