When creating or updating tax exception groups, you can use the geocode search functionality to select and display any combination of geocodes and zip codes. Then, once selected, these can be inserted into the tax exception group maintenance selection parameters. For example, you can select geocodes for all counties within Colorado, or for a zip code within a specific city.
Note: The geocode options display only if you have enabled the National Sales Tax Database.
To select by geocodes:
From the Files > Tax, Duty & Exchange Rates menu, select Tax Exception Group Maintenance to display the Tax Exception Group Maintenance window.
In the Exception Group ID field, enter the ID for the group you want to add geocodes to.
In the Enter Geocode or State field on a blank line, enter the state abbreviation for which you want to use all geocodes in that state or enter a geocode which you want to use for the group.
To select geocodes for a specific state or zip code, or to browse the available cities and counties, in the Enter Search Criteria field, enter the state abbreviation, such as CO or MI, to display the Tax Exception Group Search.
Use the check boxes to select areas by geocode, zip code, city, or county and click Add.
The system displays a message showing how many geocodes you are going to add.
Click OK to add the codes and return to the Tax Exception Group Maintenance.
