As an image manager, you can administer image storage over networks. You can define index profiles that use multiple Storage IDs, and schedule copies of images to be sent to other locations at convenient times.
For example, companies with multiple branches can use document replication to store new images in each branch during the day, then replicate all the images at the main branch at night, when network traffic is low enough to sustain the transfer of many large file images.
Important: We recommend that you store images directly on your main imaging server, and not store them at your local branches. Today, with faster internet speeds and networks and more bandwidth, saving files locally is likely unnecessary for your site. However, if you experience network speed issues due to saving images on a remote imaging server, set up your branches to save documents locally and then replicate them after hours. |
During replication, the system copies images to every storage ID designated on in the document profiles. For example, images from a temporary branch storage locations could be copied to one or more central image storage location.
