Entering Dependent Items on Master Job Bids

If you have materials that you order only if another material is ordered, you can create dependency relationships between them. You cannot create dependent relationships between stock items, but you can between materials on a lot item and stock items or other lot item materials. For more information about dependent items, see Dependent Item Concepts.

To identify a lot item material as a base material:

  1. Display the character-based system.

Note: The Master Job Bids functionality has not been incorporated into Solar Eclipse as of this release.

  1. Create a lot item bid that includes items that will be dependent on a material within the lot item.

  2. Select the lot item and use the NonStk/Lot hot key to display the Lot Item Status screen.

  3. Use the Material Detail hot key to display the Lot Item Material Detail screen.

  4. Use the View hot key and select Base / Multiplier from the list to display the dependent items view.

  5. Select the lot item material upon which other stock or lot items are dependent and, in the Base field, enter New to display a prompt.

  6. At the "Enter New Base ID" prompt, enter a user-defined code that the system will use to identify the material as a base material and press Enter to enter the code in the Base field.

If you previously created a Tag Type for the lot item material, that Tag Type defaults at the prompt.

  1. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for any other base materials in the Lot Item.

  2. Identify lot item materials as dependent on a lot item base material, as needed.

  3. Press Esc twice to return to the Sales Order Entry Body screen.

To identify stock items as dependent on a lot item material:

  1. Create a base lot item material.

  2. On the Sales Order Entry Body screen, from the View menu, select Dependent Items to display the dependent items view.

Note: You must have the DEPENDENT.ITEMS order entry view assigned to display this view.

  1. Select an item that is dependent on a base material you identified and, in the Base field, enter that material's base ID. For example, if you identified Lamp A as a base material and assigned it an ID of A, you would identify a stock light bulb as a dependent item of that lamp by entering A in the Base field for that light bulb.

  2. In the Mult field, enter the quantity of the stock product needed for one unit of the base material. For example, if one unit of Lamp A requires two light bulbs, enter 2 in the Mult field for the required light bulb.

  3. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any other dependent stock items.

  4. Identify lot item materials as dependent on a lot item base material, as needed.

  5. Change the bid to a master job bid.
