Viewing and Editing Data in the PDW Catalog

Use the PDW Data Viewer to view and edit the data stored for each product record in the Product Data Warehouse (PDW) Catalog. Enter the product and the import map or import date for which you want to view data.

You can edit, delete, and unsync product information stored in the PDW Catalog using the PDW Data Viewer, if you are assigned the PDW.CATALOG.EDIT authorization key. You can also access the MetaData Maintenance screen to re-index your metadata items.

To view and edit data in the PDW Catalog:

  1. From the Tools > Product Data Warehouse (PDW) menu, select PDW Data Viewer to display the PDW Data Viewer window.

  1. In the PDW ID field, enter the product ID or indexed metadata item for the product you want to view.

The system populates the Description, Import Date, and Product Imagefields in the Selection Criteria area and completes the table data.

The system lists each data element stored in the PDW Catalog for the designated product. By default the system displays the metadata items associated with all maps and the values for the current date. The following table describes the information displayed for each data element.

  1. Click Price Viewer to display the PDW Price Viewer window in edit mode.

  2. Use the table and its views to drill into the product information:

Note: By default, all columns display. Use the View Manager to narrow the display columns.

Key

The following validation characters flag the metadata item as one of the following types:

  • * - Parametric.

  • ! - User-defined file data. These values are set...

  • Indexed - Indexed product set on the Meta Data Maintenance window.

  • Xref - Product is cross-referenced with the associated Eclipse vendor file. Use the File > PDW Xref File Maintenance menu option to open the cross-reference data and view the vendor file name and its location in that file.

Meta Name

The short name for the meta item, such as product name or UPC.

Import Date

The date the PDW Meta Item was loaded into the catalog.

Import Source

The file from which the system pulls the meta data.

Meta Type

The identifying metadata items types assigned when matching items in the PDW Catalog:

  • UPC - Identifies this item as an 11-digit UPC code. If the item you are defining is a 12-, 13-, or 14-digit UPC code, assign the Unique Key type.

  • Unique Key - Identifies this item as a unique key.

  • Price - Identifies this item as pricing data.

  • Web URL - Identifies this item as an Internet address that points to a web site.

  • Media URL - Identifies this item as an Internet address that points to the location containing an image of the product.

  • Date - Identifies this item as a date.

Meta Value

The actual value, such as a date, for the meta item.

  1. To edit the PDW data, double-click in the PDW Data field, make your data changes, and click Save Changes.

When viewing PDW Catalog data, you can refine or expand the data you are viewing using the following fields and buttons:

From the File menu, select PDW Price Maintenance to display the PDW Price Viewer window.

From the Options > Change View menu, select Extended.

To return back to the original view, select Options > Change View > Default.

In the View field, select the import map. Select All to view the data elements associated with all import maps.

change the date for which to view the PDW data

In the EffDate field, select one of the following options:

  • Current - Displays only the current update information for the product.

  • All - Displays all updates for the product.

  • Individual dates - Displays updates listed by date.

Use the Date hot key to select an effective date for which you want to review information.

These dates are based on the Number Of History PDW Months During Order Entrycontrol maintenance record setting to indicate how many months to display.

define the metadata elements in the PDW Catalog

Select the PDW item in the list and then select the View > PDW MetaDataMaintenance menu option.

delete an item from the PDW Catalog

select the item you want to delete and click Delete PDW Item.

Note: You must be assigned the PDW.CATALOG.EDIT authorization key to delete items from the PDW Catalog.

display the product record for the PDW Catalog item

select the item you want to display and click Open Product Maintenance.

This button is only active when the product is synced to a record in the Eclipse Product file.

select the item you want to unsync and click Unsync PDW Item from Product.

This button is only active when the product is syned to a record in the Eclipse Product file. You must be assigned the PDW.CATALOG.EDIT authorization key to unsync products.

launch your web browser for items that point to images

select the View > Open Web Link menu option. Use this option to test your path mapping during implementation.
