Mill Test Reports (MTR) provide proof that certain products you have purchased meet standard industry specification. Heat numbers are stamped on each item coming out of the manufacturing process to track these details. MTRs define each heat number and the associated products. Eclipse helps you track these heat numbers on the MTR documents for products. This tracking starts with the purchase order receiving process. Most manufacturers send the MTRs with the material, but you may need to request the MTRs from the vendor.
Use standard Eclipse vendor shipping instructions to alert the vendor that you require MTR documents for products on the purchase order. After completing the receiving process, users enter the heat numbers and attach the MTR document using the Heat Number Entry window from the Purchase Order Entry Body tab.
Note: You must be assigned the MTR.EDIT authorization key to enter heat numbers.
Use Eclipse Imaging Indexing to create a link to the products and their heat numbers to the MTR document. A product can have more than one heat number on multiple MTRs. Eclipse tracks the different MTR documents as they are added to the product's record in Product Maintenance.
If you are using an RF warehouse, see
To add MTR information to a product during P/O receiving:
From the Purchase Menu, select Purchase Order Entry to display the Purchase Order Entry window.
Display the purchase order on which the MTR-related material was ordered.
From the Edit Order menu, select Product MTR Information to display the Product MTR Information entry window.
The view-only Vendor field displays the company name for the purchase order.
The MTR ID field populates with the next available ID assigned by Eclipse. You cannot change this value.
Click New to create a new MTR sheet number, if needed.
A product can have multiple documents assigned to it, if necessary.
Use the Product Description column to locate the product for which you need to assign a heat number.
In the Heat Number field for the product to which you are assigning a heat number, enter the heat number as it appears on the MTR sheet provided by the manufacturer.
These heat numbers can be alphanumeric and are forced to all upper case letters after entry.
Use the Multiple button to enter more than one heat number, if needed.
For example, if the product you are working with already has a heat number assigned, you can add the next heat number using this option. When a user adds this product to a sales order, they are prompted to select the appropriate heat number.
Repeat steps 1-8 for each P/O you are receiving with MTR documents.
Save your changes and exit the window.
