To set report writer options:

  1. Log into the character-based system. This feature is not available in a Solar Eclipse interface.

  2. From the Reprts menu, select Report Writer to display the report writer view of the Report Writer/Mass Load screen.

  3. Design the report layout.

  4. Use the Opt hot key to display the Report Writer Options screen.

  5. Complete the following fields, as needed:

Field

Description

Spaces Between Lines

Enter the number of spaces to leave between lines. The default is 0.

Print Prompts (Y/N)

Indicate whether to print on the report the prompts entered on the Report Writer/Mass Load Selection screen to select the data for the report.

If set to Yes, the prompts you select for your report driver display at the top of the report with the labels you enter. This helps when you run the same report with different prompts to determine which report results you are viewing. The report title can be the same, but different report results based the prompts the user enters on the driver in the report design. For more information about prompts, see Editing Promptsin this documentation.

Print Line Numbers

Indicate how you want line numbers to display. Enter the number of digits you want to display incrementally. By default, line numbers do not display. Line numbers can be helpful when sharing reports in meetings and to make sure that everyone is referring to the same information.

Examples:

  • To print no line numbers, leave the field blank.

  • To print line numbers up to 9, enter 1. The system then restarts numbering at 1 after reaching 9.

  • To print line numbers up to 99, enter 2. The system then restarts numbering at 1 after reaching 99.

  • To print line numbers up to 999, enter 3. The system then restarts numbering at 1 after reaching 999.

Suppress Headers?

Indicate if you want to display or suppress headers on the report you are creating.

For a report you are downloading to a PC, specify the character to insert as the delimiter between columns.

  • Yes - A report run in Summary mode excludes columns that do not display at all. A report run in Detail mode displays the additional columns without quotation marks or additional characters.

  1. Press Esc to save this information and return to the Report Writer/Mass Load Design screen, where you can continue to design the report layout.
