Getting Started with Deliveries

Use the Delivery Schedule tool in Sales Order Entry, to ensure your customers receive material on time and in an expected time frame. Prior to scheduling your sales orders, you must setup your ship vias for delivery classifications and customer classifications so that the system manages the deliveries correctly. Use the following options in Branch and Customer Maintenance to ensure your records are setup for deliveries. Additionally, review the Valid Scheduler Types control maintenance record for valid event types.

Control Maintenance Records and Authorization Keys

You must set up the following options prior to using Delivery Schedules:

Note: If you use a third-party software to manage your deliveries, set the Third Party Delivery Routing Solution control maintenance record to Yes to indicate the system should not use the Eclipse delivery features.

To define delivery classifications:

  1. From the Maintenance menu, select Branch.

  2. In the Branch field, enter the branch for which you want to define delivery classifications.

  3. From the Maintenance menu, select Ship Via Branch Overrides.

  4. Locate the ship via to which you want to assign delivery classifications.

  5. From the Additional menu, select Branch Ship Via Additional Data.

  6. On the bottom of this window, use the following columns to setup your deliveries.

Column

Description

Delivery Classification

Select the classifications you want to use, such as AM, Before Noon, or Premiere.

The system uses the Valid Delivery Classifications control maintenance record to determine what options to display.

Start Time

Indicate what delivery times the system should use for this delivery classification.

End Time

Max Stops

Enter the maximum number of stops you want to driver to make for this delivery.

Schedule?

Defines a specific time slot for your delivery window from which to select in the order.

Non-Movable

Fixes the delivery date/time once it has been selected. This means the drag-and-drop feature in the Schedule a Delivery window is disabled.

To change the delivery time, users must delete the delivery schedule and re-schedule it.

Event Type

Indicate which event type to use for this schedule.

The system uses the Valid Scheduler Types control maintenance record to determine what options display.

Color

Select a color for your event. When selected, the delivery displays highlighted with this color in the Scheduler.

To define customer classifications:

  1. From the Maintenance menu, select Customer.

  2. In the Customer field, select which customer for which you want to apply a delivery classification.

  3. From the Additional menu, select Additional Customer Information.

  4. In the Order Information tab, use the Delivery Classification field to enter one or more classifications you want to assign.

  5. Save your changes and exit the window.
