Delivery Labels Overview

When products are being delivered to a work site and must be associated with a specific room, floor, lot location, or other delivery location, order takers can assign products to these delivery locations during order entry.

When associating products with delivery locations during order entry, you can specify commonly used delivery label groups that your company sets up in advance, such as Kitchen or Bath. Or, you can enter a free-form delivery location, such as Danny's Room.

When you are finished assigning products to delivery locations, you can use the Items By Delivery Group Detail window to review all delivery labels by delivery location.

About Delivery Label Printing

When products are associated with delivery locations, warehouse pickers print delivery labels and place them on the appropriate products, or groups of products, before they are shipped.

You can designate a default delivery label printing method in two ways:

company level

Default Delivery Label Parameters control maintenance record.

You have two options:

  • Item - Print one label for every quantity of every line item that has been assigned a delivery label. For example, a contractor orders a quantity of 10 of a single product and asks for five to be delivered to the bedroom and five to be delivered to the bathroom. Ten labels will print: one for each item.

  • Delivery Group - Print one label for the full quantity of each line item being delivered to the same delivery location. For example, a contractor orders a quantity of 10 of a single product and asks for five to be delivered to the bedroom and five to be delivered to the bathroom. Two labels will print: one for each delivery location that the line item is being delivered to.

This setting overrides the company-level default for this product only.

If you do not set a company default using the Default Delivery Label Parameterscontrol maintenance record, and there is no product-level default, the system uses the Delivery Group setting.

Regardless of the company and product defaults you set, users can override these defaults when associating products with delivery locations during order entry.

Once you have assigned delivery labels to products on an order, ship tickets and pick tickets will denote this. Furthermore, these documents will show, at the line item level, whether the labels are per item or per delivery group.
